April Ross

April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball stars who have managed to get medals from more than one Olympics. Alix Kallineman will play alongside April Ross in Tokyo for her third gold medal during the next couple of days. Ross hopes to win something more than just her first Olympic medal. At 39, this might be her final chance to get it done. She remains confident though that the most important medals are within reach. If we can perform to our highest or even play really well, I believe we can get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Additionally, I'm going try to be a little fortunate. Ross Born in 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her sisters and parents, was the first to begin playing sports during her time at Newport Harbor High. She then went on to compete in many activities as a student at Newport Harbor High School. In addition to indoor volleyball, she played tennis and also jogged track when she was an athlete in the pre-professional stage. She was evidently the best when it came to indoor volleyball. When she played in her time at the high school level as per her college information, she played as an outside blocker, middle blocker settingter, and hitter. The honor was conferred to her by in the category of Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999 for her achievements. She also won her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross and Klineman started their partnership in 2017, but Ross was a renowned volleyball player for years before. In fact, she's been a prominent player in the world of beach volleyball for a long time. Ross actually won several tournaments, including one with an iconic volleyball superstar. From 2007 until 2013, she was working with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Together, Kessy Ross was an ace on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. The duo took silver in London's Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. Ross is Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. The team won bronze at the beach volleyball competition in the Rio Olympics in 2016. After high school and several years prior to hitting the sand professionally, Ross was a ball for the USC Trojans as an NCAA. Her time in the Trojans' ranks was a memorable one. The Trojans were an All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000. Her Trojans made it to the Final Four. She was devastated by a personal loss in her sophomore year, but she still repeated in the ranks of an All-American. Through her final two years playing for the Trojans they helped achieve consecutive championships. Individually Ross established her status as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award went to the highest female collegiate athlete in the nation. Ross was a major in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the opportunity to see her daughter grow into a beach volleyball superstar. As of 2001, when Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away due to cancer of the breast. Ross is still awed by the memory of her parent. Margie is an inspiration while on the beaches and in all her lives.
